FairSay is actively developing a number of open source campaigning tools and is launching several initiatives that may be of interest to others.

Open Source

Note: All Open Source products we develop are based on the Open Source CMS Zope (using Plone and Python) unless otherwise mentioned.

Activator

This is a tool for running online actions such as petitions and letters. It has been used live on the whiteband.org site since June 2005 and has seen tens of thousands of actions taken in six different languages (including Arabic).

Mobiliser

This is a tool for encouraging local supporters around the country/world to either organise local gatherings or to attend them. The helps organisations go beyond purely online activity and get supporters connected and engaged locally. It will be launched in January 2006.

Geo Rosetta

Geo Rosetta is a set of geographical global data and a Javascript client selector - thus it is not software but a highly valuable data source. It consists of a hierarchical set of data representing every country around the world, each countries regions and the cities with those regions. Each city has a longitude and latitude to enable identifying what is close to each other plus a range of other data. It has country listings in over 30 launguages and can translate to/from any coding standard to make it interoperable with existing systems.

The Javascript client is an advanced selector which can integrate into any system, allowing a user to select their country, state/province and closest city without page refreshes.

Other Tools

Extended syndication

This extends Plone's existing syndication system by making it quick and easy to grab content from across the site in multiple languages and syndicate it to others.

Aggregator

This tool fetches syndicated feed from other sites and converts it into local content. It also allows you to fetch emails and convert them to local documents.

Initiatives

You'll have to wait for these! But one is related to benchmarking and the other to cool new campaigning tools using Internet technologies.
